Eating in Margaret River - Our Top 5 Guide

We've been living in Margaret River for 9 years now and have always enjoyed dining out in town, trying out the new spots when they open just in time for the silly season. We are spoiled for choice for a country town in places to eat that is for sure, but we have rounded it down to our Top 5 spots to eat in the town of Margaret River each offering a very different experience. So next time you come to visit... check them out.

Brewhouse Margaret River

We'd heard the rumours about this place opening and we were a little excited. When it finally did we'd found our second home! Brewhouse brew all their own beers on site and their collection has grown into something very diverse and tasty. With a very casual atmosphere this venue is suited to just about any occasion... few beers after a mountain bike ride, a Sunday session with friends, a nice dinner for two! The food is simply delicious and there is a good rotation of specials, which is important when you go there as much as we do :). They have a good selection of live music on weekends and there is also a playground and plenty of space for the kids to run around. We hope you enjoy this place as much as we do.

Pizzica

Wow, wow, wow! We simply love this new addition onto the scene. It feels so authentic, Margaret River's own slice of Italy. The food is authentically Italian and they also have a great range of Italian style wines to enjoy with your pizza. A mostly pizza orientated menu with a few additional menu items coming straight from the wood fired oven. And don't go past the fried pizza dough for desert... it is scrumptious! Tucked away underground the atmosphere is cosy. It's a really fun place to eat. We would definitely recommend booking this one.

La Scarpetta

Continuing with the Italian theme La Scarpetta is upstairs from Pizzica. Again very authentic Italian dishes. The pastas are all freshly made on site and are to die for. The word on the street is this is the best steak in Margs too... if you can look past the pastas to order one. A huge selection of Italian variety wines here also. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, good for a group or a dinner for two. We'd recommend booking to avoid disappointment.

Miki's Open Kitchen

Feel like a hit of Japanese? Then this is the place to visit. Miki's is a small cozy restaurant offering up some of the best Japanese food we have had (outside of Japan at least). We'd recommend the Trust the Chef options and getting the best of what is happening that day. There is also a selection of sake and some great local wines. You definitely need to book this one, which you can do online, and to get the true experience, try and get yourself a spot on the bar and watch the crew work their magic on your meals.

Morries Anytime

Funky little spot that has stood the test of time. Fantastic tapas menu perfect for a night out with friends or choose something off the mains menu if you are not a fan of sharing. A great local wine list but don't go past one (or two or three) of Billy's cocktails. They also have regular Jazz nights so check out their website or Facebook page to see if anything is going on.

So that's our Top 5... get out there and give them a try for yourself and let us know your thoughts!
