That's enough wine!
In a sea of wine you may just get to the point where you say "enough wine already". Well Margaret River is not only about wine! We have many creative people in our region brewing cold refreshing beers, distilling fantastic tasting gin and mixing the best cocktails that will pass your lips! To help you out we have compiled our favourite spots to escape the wine sea and indulge in a little something else! And the best bit... if you are staying in Margaret River... you won't have to travel very far.
Brewhouse is a microbrewery in the heart of Margaret River. It is owned by three local families who wanted to create a venue you could walk to, or in our case ride to. We call this our second home. Great spot for a beer after a ride, a hard day of work, catch up with mates or a Sunday session... ok well just about good for any reason really.
They brew some fantastic beers with a flavour to suit just about any palette. They even rotate some other local beers for you to try as well as have cider on tap. My tip is the Inji Pale Ale for some hoppy goodness. There is live music most weekends and lots of room for the kids to run a muck! The staff are friendly and the food is great!
Morries has been on the Margaret River scene for a long time and has always been a favourite with us. Come see award winning barman Billy Phillips at work and have him mix you a fabulous cocktail. This place has a great atmosphere and is ideal for enjoying some sharing plates and great drinks with friends. My favourite cocktail is The Trophy Wife, give it a go. Look out for their jazz nights and settle in for a great night out!
While they have all their wines on tap to enjoy Jacob has been instrumental in bringing some of the best beers to the taps here which rotate regularly meaning you never get bored. They can also mix you up a nice G&T or cocktail if that's more your style! Another great place for share food. They recently introduced a construct your own meat and cheese platter... OMG we loved this! They regularly host "Tap Takeovers" and other events here as well as regular live music. Make sure you look up and note the light fixtures and hills hoists.
The very reason I started drinking, and appreciating, gin! The gin is all made onsite using a lot of local ingredients and botanicals. Sit down and enjoy one of their gin tasting paddles and figure out which one is your favourite. They even host "Giniversity" where you learn all about the origins of gin and then get to create and distil your very own gin! We've done it... and loved it! If you can't make it to the distillery the local bottle shop sell their products so you can take some home.
A little local hideaway, that we thought twice about sharing with you! This place has a very different vibe to anything else you’ll experience in Margaret River, small bar with an American theme. Great beers, cocktails, wines! Check it out for yourself!
So there you go... we hope we have given you a few alternatives if you find yourself drowning in wine! Let us know how you go, we may even see you out there!
