Our Top 5 Margaret River Wineries

At Easy Ride tours we pride ourselves on doing in depth research into the regions wineries and many wines! I know... tough job, but someone has to do it right?

Here we share with you our Top 5 Margaret River wineries, and while unfortunately we can't take you to all of them on our very fancy electric bikes, you may like to visit them during your stay in the region. So here are our picks! We'd love to know what you think if you get to visit them.

Pick 1 - Arlewood Estate

Well let's start with one you will visit on tour with us... Arlewood Estate. We love the smaller wineries in the region as you get to speak to the people passionate about the wine making process and at Arlewood you certainly get this, from time to time we've even managed to have a chat with the winemaker, who is very passionate about his craft.

Enjoy a tasting in their cosy cellar door or if the weather permits outside on their fabulous new deck overlooking the properties vineyards, sheep and horses. Here you will find some amazing wines and some varieties you won't discover at a lot of other cellar doors in the region. Being 10km South of Margaret River you may be able to pick up some unique flavours from their grapes grown on site. But even if you can't you'll be glad you made the trip.

Their tasting room is open Thursday to Sunday from 11am but they do welcome private appointments outside of those times just give them a call.

Address: 679 Calgardup Road (West), Forest Grove

Pick 2 - Stormflower Vineyard

Another little gem not well known but really worth the visit! With every grape coming from their small organically certified vineyard all of Stormflower’s wines from the 2016 vintage onwards are certified organic, or made with certified organic grapes. That's right no nasty chemicals just all natural methods resulting in the best fruit in their wines.

The Chardonnay here is really special and has been known to convert many an ABCer (Anything But Chardonnay) and their sparkling Chenin will bring a POP to any event (particularly good on Redgate Beach on Christmas morning :)).

The cellar door manager Ute' sure your knows her stuff and will have you walking out of the cellar door with a whole heap of knowledge about the wine industry and hopefully a box full of wine!

Stormflower's cellar door is open daily 11am to 5pm so go pay them a visit.

Pick 3 - Glenarty Road

Located further South in Karridale... this is a visit sure worth the trip! A boutique farm and vineyard with a focus on making world class wines, growing fresh seasonal produce and raising grass-fed lamb.

We'd suggest getting on one of the walking tours which run Thursday to Monday at 10.30am. Give them a call or email to book your spot. The tour will take you around the property where you will stop at purpose built wine tasting stations to enjoy their fabulous wines in a beautiful setting. Then why not stay on for some lunch, they have several offerings depending on the day so check their website for what they have available. The Friday pastas are divine!

The cellar door is open Thursday to Monday from 10.00am to 5.00pm.

Pick 4 - Amelia Park Wines

Want to check out one of Australia's best cellar doors... then get along to Amelia Park. This is one of the bigger wineries on our list but you still get a warm friendly welcome and the building is simply amazing.

There is a wide range of wines available at Amelia Park's cellar door. As well as the grapes from the Margaret River property, they source grapes from further South giving you an opportunity to taste some different flavours. An annual favourite of ours is the Rose'... a great drop for a warm Margaret River afternoon.

This place is getting a reputation and can get pretty busy on the long weekends so plan your visit early in the day or during the week to avoid the crowds.

If you are feeling hungry... check out the restaurant across the car park as they do some amazing food... but bookings are recommended.

The cellar door is open daily 10.00am to 5.00pm.

Pick 5 - Pierro Wines

Feel the warmth of this cosy cellar door and enjoy the array of amazing wines on offer... most notably their Chardonnay described as one of the best Chardonnay's in the region.

Pierro also possesses one of my all time favourite Margaret River wines the Blanc de Blanc... the perfect amount of fruity and dry and fantastic with spicy food or just by itself! Yummy!

With two vineyards in the region there is a good variety of great wines on offer. The cellar door is open daily 10.00am to 5.00pm.

Address: 4051 Caves Road, Wilyabrup Phone: 08 9755 6220 Email: info@pierro.com.au

Website: https://www.pierro.com.au/

So they are our Top 5 Picks for wineries in the region. We hope you can get out and visit them and we'd love to hear what you think!

So what are you waiting for... get out there and drink some wine!
